The Utrecht Vocal Ensemble counts about 30 singers and brings vocal music from the Middle Ages to the 21st century. In fact, we prefer music from early and very recent times, but nevertheless we also gladly brought a romantic program like Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle, or a classic like Händels Messiah.
We present two programs each year, mostly linked to a theme. See Wat deden we (What did we do) for a brief history. There’s a lot of image there, so you could trace our musical history without knowing Dutch.
Our conductor Jeroen Spitteler has been educated as a singer as well as a conductor, and since his start with UVE in 2012 has accompanied us in our strive to improve our technique and sound. See here for more about him.
We are in for musical combinations with choirs or other music groups across the borders, like we did with Gallina in 2015 and 2017.
